The 45-minute hold for a refund they never processed

I spent 45 minutes on hold with a phone company in Phoenix last Tuesday, only for the rep to tell me my refund was 'still in review' after they'd already charged my card twice, so has anyone else had to file a chargeback just to get a straight answer out of these guys?

Last Tuesday I hit a pothole on I-275 and blew a tire. Called Nationwide's roadside line at 9:15am. The lady took my info, said a tow truck would call within 45 minutes. At 10:30 nothing. I called back, got a different person who said my claim wasn't even in the system yet. She put me on hold for 20 minutes, came back and said the first rep never submitted the ticket. I had to re-read my whole policy number and location to her while standing on the shoulder with cars whipping past. The tow finally showed up at 12:50, almost 4 hours later. They tried to charge me a $75 cancellation fee because the first driver they dispatched left after waiting 20 minutes for me to confirm. I never got a call from that driver either. Has anyone else had this runaround where the first rep just drops your service request into a void?

I spent 45 minutes on hold with my internet provider over a $30 overcharge. The rep finally said they'd issue a credit and gave me a ticket number. A week later the charge was still there, so I called back and they claimed no refund was ever processed. I went straight to their social media page and messaged them publicly with the ticket number. Got a real refund in 2 days, has anyone else had to shame a company into fixing their own mistake?
