The 45 minute hold that ended with a fake refund

I spent 45 minutes on hold with my internet provider over a $30 overcharge. The rep finally said they'd issue a credit and gave me a ticket number. A week later the charge was still there, so I called back and they claimed no refund was ever processed. I went straight to their social media page and messaged them publicly with the ticket number. Got a real refund in 2 days, has anyone else had to shame a company into fixing their own mistake?

My last ISP charged me $15 for "equipment fees" on a modem I bought myself, and I got nowhere until I tweeted at them with the receipt photo and got a call from their "executive team" within an hour lol. The sad thing is they probably have a whole department just for social media complaints because their phone support is so useless.

Three states have laws against billing you for gear you own, worth checking.
