Switched from plastic to metal water bottles and the difference surprised me in 2 weeks

I swapped out my old plastic bottles for a stainless steel one I got at a camping store, and after about 2 weeks I noticed my water just tasted cleaner, no more weird plastic aftertaste. Has anyone else noticed a big flavor difference with metal bottles or am I imagining things?

Appreciation post: my old washing machine that lasted 18 years finally gave out

My Whirlpool washer from 2006 finally died last Wednesday. It started making this horrible grinding noise during the spin cycle and then just stopped working. I called a repair guy but he said the motor was shot and parts aren't made for that model anymore. I ended up buying a new one for $650 at Lowe's and honestly I'm a little sad about it. The new one has all these digital settings and beeps and I just want a simple knob and a button. Has anyone else had a hard time letting go of an old appliance that worked fine for years?

Update: My whole plan for a backyard fire pit in Omaha fell apart last weekend

I was digging the base and hit a solid concrete slab about 18 inches down that NOBODY told me about, not the previous owners or my city permit check.
