Stopped rinsing rice before cooking and I can tell the difference now

I used to always rinse my jasmine rice 3 times before putting it in the pot, like my grandma taught me. Last month I got lazy and skipped it on some $5 jasmine from WinCo and the texture turned out way stickier and clumped together. Has anyone else noticed a big difference skipping the rinse or is it just me?

Tell me something, did you notice any difference in the fragrance or flavor when you skipped rinsing the jasmine? I always thought the extra starch from not rinsing makes the rice taste a little dull and gluey instead of fluffy and separate. Just curious if you had that same experience with the WinCo bag you mentioned.

Bet you're finding out why my grandma was so particular about that stuff. It's funny how skipping one little step messes with the whole meal, like how rushing through a job just makes things worse later.
