Had a week where everything went wrong in my kitchen reno... still deciding if I should push through or pause

So I’m in the middle of remodeling my kitchen in Austin, and last week was just brutal. I ordered a new countertop that came in with a huge crack, the cabinet guy ghosted me after taking a $500 deposit, and then my sink plumbing started leaking into the basement on Tuesday. It felt like the universe was telling me to stop. Now I’m stuck between pressing on because I’ve already spent $2,300 on materials, or hitting pause to rethink the whole plan. My friend says I should just keep going and deal with the hassle, but my gut says this project is cursed. Has anyone else had a reno spiral this bad and actually came out okay on the other side?

My kitchen reno started looking like a demolition derby after about day three, so I feel your pain. The cracked countertop and ghosting contractor combo is rough. If you pause, you might just be delaying the inevitable chaos - at least that's what I tell myself when I'm elbow-deep in drywall dust and regret.

ninah10, I really feel for you. That kind of project can turn sideways fast. I remember when we did our bathroom and the tile guy just stopped showing up after the second day with no explanation. It's that feeling of being stuck halfway with no easy way forward that gets to you. You're right that pausing might just mean facing the same mess later, but sometimes you need a day to catch your breath. Hope you find a good way through it all.
