So I got tired of my bag stinking up my car after every workout, right? Tried those charcoal deodorizers, dryer sheets, even febreeze. Nothing worked for more than a day. Then about 3 weeks ago, I tossed a couple of those silica gel packets you find in shoeboxes into the main compartment and the stink vanished. I guess it pulls moisture out. Been 3 weeks and it still smells like nothing. Anyone else tried weird fixes for gym bag odor?
I was at Gold's on 4th Street around 7pm, mid set on the leg press, when the guy next to me drops a 45 pound plate on his foot and just stands there staring at it. No reaction, no yelp, nothing. I asked if he was good and he mumbled something about his toes being numb. Manager came over 5 minutes later after he limped to the desk. Would you have just kept going or called someone right away?
I was sick of my chicken legs so I hit legs hard on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 4 weeks. My quads got noticeably bigger but my squat max dropped from 225 to 205 and my knees started clicking. Has anyone else run into this where more volume actually made their main lift worse?
I stopped by Planet Fitness off the I-17 last Thursday and this dude was on a bosu ball with a barbell on his back. His knees were wobbling like crazy and he almost tipped over twice. I get wanting core stability but isn't that just asking for a trip to urgent care? Has anyone else seen this weird training trend pop up?
I hit 315 on bench last Tuesday and it caught me off guard because I wasn't even going for it, just doing some heavy singles and the bar went up smoother than I expected. Been stuck at 295 for like 18 months, so seeing that number on the plates felt like a complete fluke until I repped it again on Friday. Anyone else hit a plateau forever and then bust through it randomly without a special program?
Honestly, I thought I was saving a few bucks by getting a cheap nylon belt instead of a leather one. After about three months the velcro started peeling off during deadlifts. I finally caved and spent $120 on a real leather single-prong belt from a known brand. Night and day difference. The cheap one actually slipped mid-rep on a heavy set and tweaked my lower back. Has anyone else learned the hard way that some gym gear is worth spending more on?
I've been stuck at 205 for what felt like forever... then last Tuesday I just went for it and hit 225 for one clean rep. What surprised me was looking up the stats online, turns out only about 1 in 7 regular gym goers can bench their own bodyweight at that level. I'm not a big guy either, 175 pounds soaking wet, so it felt pretty good. Anyone else have a number they finally cracked after thinking they never would?
Bought this 'custom 12 week program' from a fitness influencer. Paid $60. Got a PDF that looked like it was made in 10 minutes. Every single exercise was just stuff from her free Instagram page. Same sets, same reps, same captions. I could have just scrolled her feed. Anyone else get ripped off by one of these online coaches?
For like 2 years I was all about those cable machines and leg presses at Planet Fitness in Austin. Thought they were safer and easier. Then I switched to a proper gym with a squat rack and started doing barbell squats with just 135 pounds. Holy crap, the difference in core stability and overall strength gain is insane. Machines just lock you into one path, but free weights force your whole body to work together. Has anyone else made the switch and felt like they wasted months?
