Tried training legs 3 days a week for a month straight. My squat went down 20 pounds instead of up.

I was sick of my chicken legs so I hit legs hard on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 4 weeks. My quads got noticeably bigger but my squat max dropped from 225 to 205 and my knees started clicking. Has anyone else run into this where more volume actually made their main lift worse?

Ngl I read something about this from a coach who said your body can only handle so much squat volume before it starts breaking down form and CNS recovery. 3 times a week for a month is basically overkill for most people's recovery unless you're on gear or have perfect sleep and diet. Your knees clicking and the drop in weight sounds like your joints and nervous system just gave up from the fatigue. I heard that squatting heavy more than 2 times a week usually backfires unless you're rotating intensity and volume between sessions. Maybe try doing one heavy squat day and one lighter technique day instead of going all out every time.

Started squatting every day for a week and my lower back locked up so bad I had to crawl to the bathroom.
