Sealing a window crack taught me more about breaks than fixes
I figured I could handle a small crack in my bedroom window on my own to avoid calling a pro. I grabbed some basic sealant and a cheap glass cutter from the hardware store, feeling pretty confident. As soon as I started prying out the old pane, the whole window exploded into tiny shards. My floor was covered in glass, and I spent the next hour sweeping and vacuuming it all up. I was totally frustrated, but something clicked and I didn't just want to quit. I found a local class on basic glass cutting and decided to give it a shot. Now I can actually replace a pane correctly, and I've even made some simple sun catchers for my house. That messy failure ended up giving me a cool new skill to play with.
