That $8 concrete patch from Home Depot almost ruined my floor
I was skeptical about using a quick-set patch for big holes. Tried it on a 2-inch crater in my garage slab and it cracked out within 3 days. Anyone else had better luck with a different brand?

Oh man, that Home Depot patch has gotten me too. I tried filling a quarter-sized chip in my basement floor and it popped right out like a loose tooth. The concrete repair stuff from a hardware brand with a blue logo actually held up better for me - mixed it a little dry and pressed it in real good. Your 2-inch crater might need a bonding adhesive underneath to keep that new concrete stuck to the old stuff. Nothing worse than walking out to the garage and seeing your repair work crumbled into dust, makes you feel like a real DIY superhero.

Gotta agree with you on the bonding adhesive tip. I read somewhere that concrete doesn't really stick to itself once it's fully cured, it just sits on top like a brick on a table. That's probably why my last garage repair flaked off after one winter freeze-thaw cycle. The blue logo stuff you mentioned is solid, I've used their vinyl concrete patch and it's got some flex to it. Makes a huge difference when the floor moves a little with temp changes. Hope you get that crater filled without it turning into a whole new DIY saga.
