That one week I scored big on deadstock tees from a closing shop

Last Tuesday I stopped by a small clothing store going out of business near downtown Portland. They had a back room full of unsold vintage-style shirts from 2018, still in the original packaging. I ended up grabbing 140 tees for 2 bucks each, about half were heavy cotton blanks I can flip easy. Has anyone else had luck hitting up stores that are closing down for wholesale leftovers?

Make sure you check the cotton for yellowing before you buy in bulk like that. I've grabbed deadstock that looked fine in the bag but had weird storage damage.

Wait, are we really acting like you got a goldmine here? 140 tees for two bucks each is a decent deal, sure, but you also just bought a ton of headache. You gotta check every single bag for yellowing, plus older blanks like that from 2018 sometimes have that weird chemical smell that never comes out in the wash. I'm not saying it's a total loss, but you're probably looking at closer to 80 or 90 that are actually resellable once you sort through the duds. The closing shop trick works, but you gotta be a lot more picky than "half are heavy cotton.
