A supplier told me my packaging sucked and it hurt my sales by 40%

Honestly, I used to just throw my wholesale items in plain poly bags and call it a day. A big buyer in Chicago straight up told me my packaging looked cheap and they wouldn't stock my stuff. I switched to simple custom printed boxes with a logo sticker, only cost me an extra 50 cents per unit. Next order from that same buyer tripled in size within two months. Tbh, I never realized how much the unboxing experience mattered for wholesale accounts. Has anyone else gotten brutal feedback from a buyer that actually helped your business?

That 50 cent investment paid off, but what did the Chicago buyer say exactly was wrong with your old bags?

Man tell me about it, I had this buyer from Dallas who gave me a whole list of complaints on my old messenger bags. Said the stitching was coming loose on the inside pocket, the strap buckle was too flimsy, and the whole thing just felt "cheap" when you picked it up. I was gutted at first because I'd been using those same materials for like two years with no issues. But looking back now I'm glad they called me out because it forced me to step up my game. I swear once I started using better hardware and double stitching everything my sales jumped way more than the cost of upgrades. It's one of those things where you don't realize how much little stuff matters until a customer holds you accountable.
