Why does nobody talk about how long it really takes to break a sugar addiction?
I figured cutting out added sugar would take maybe a week or two of feeling rough. But it actually took me almost 3 months before I stopped craving a soda after dinner every single night. The first month was the worst with headaches and being irritable all the time. Has anyone else had it take way longer than they expected to kick the sugar habit?

That whole two week thing is really misleading. The first month I had headaches so bad I thought I was getting sick. And the mental fog you mentioned, that stuck around for close to six weeks for me. It's not really like quitting caffeine either because caffeine withdrawal peaks fast and fades, but sugar withdrawal just kind of lingers and pops up in different ways. The worst part is how hidden sugar is in things like pasta sauce and bread, so you can't even fully avoid it without reading every single label.

Noticed the same thing myself. The whole 'two week detox' thing is a flat out lie for most people. It's more like a full on lifestyle change that takes months before you don't think about it constantly. Kind of like quitting caffeine but worse because sugar is in everything and nobody warns you about the mental fog that lingers for weeks. The food industry has us hooked on a substance that takes longer to break free from than most illegal drugs.
