Bought a Noctua fan for my home lab rack last month because everyone online swore it was silent, but the mounting holes were off by half an inch. Ended up zip-tying it in place and now it vibrates like a dying fridge. Anyone else waste cash on parts that looked good on paper but were useless in real life?
Been in Detroit sysadmin work for about 8 years now. Our main backup server would fail every Tuesday at 3 AM like clockwork. I chased logs, swapped drives, even blamed the UPS battery. Turns out the cleaning crew was unplugging it to vacuum the server room floor. Told my boss and he just laughed and said "welcome to Detroit IT." We moved the server into a locked cabinet last month and zero issues since. Anyone else have cleaners mess with your gear?
I'm the IT manager for a local hospitality group and we're opening three new restaurant locations downtown. I'm looking at detroit internet providers for our POS systems, guest Wi-Fi networks, and back-office operations. Trying to decide between Cronus and Comcast Enterprise. Anyone have experience managing either for multi-site businesses?
