Why skipping a summit saved my solo trip
I see a lot of solo travelers online saying you should never quit a hike, even if you're hurt. I totally disagree, no hate. Last year, I was alone in the Andes and twisted my ankle near the top. Instead of pushing through like everyone says, I turned back and rested. That decision let me recover fast and actually enjoy the rest of my trip. If I had kept going, I might have needed a rescue or worse. So now I always put my health over some bragging rights, lol. Trust me, it's not worth the pain.

Smart move turning back with that ankle. Getting hurt worse would have ruined the whole trip, not just one hike. The goal is to come home with good memories, not just a story.

Yeah, I see this all the time... people ignoring their limits just to finish something. Like at work, someone will stay late even when sick, then make everyone else sick too. I had a friend who kept working with a migraine, and the quality tanked... had to redo it all later. It's better to rest and come back strong, just like your ankle.
