The last time I saw my brother was at the Denny's off I-5 in Sacramento 6 years ago, he said he'd call the next day and never did

I still think about that night whenever I drive past that exit, does anyone else have a specific place that reminds them of someone they lost touch with?

That gas station turned car wash thing, did you ever stop going there on purpose to avoid the feeling, or did it just happen naturally over time?

You know what's funny, that Denny's in Sacramento actually closed down about two years ago. I remember driving by and seeing the lights off and the sign taken down, and it hit me that some places just disappear along with the people connected to them. I had a similar thing with this old gas station in Modesto where my best friend from high school and I would always meet up before we drifted apart, it's a car wash now. The way I see it, you're lucky you still have that physical landmark to tie the memory to, even if it stings every time you pass it. I guess what I'm saying is, those places are like anchors for us, keeping the story from floating away completely even when the people do.
