That $150 heat gun I bought for resin work was a total letdown
I bought a fancy heat gun online for getting bubbles out of epoxy resin, thinking it would save me time. Ended up using it twice before it started smoking on me, and the bubbles still popped up anyway. My buddy's $20 hair dryer from the thrift store actually works better for this whole process. Why do we keep falling for the expensive tool trap when the cheap stuff does the same job?

You say "the cheap stuff does the same job" but that's just not true across the board. A proper heat gun lets you control the exact temperature and airflow which matters when you're trying to avoid scorching delicate resin work. Maybe your $150 model was a dud, but that doesn't mean all expensive tools are scams. A hair dryer can work fine for small projects, but try doing a big table pour or a deep mold without consistent heat distribution and you'll see the difference fast. You get what you pay for most of the time, even if your specific experience was a bust.

Wait, hold up - you bought a $150 heat gun and it was a dud? That's wild. I figured at that price point you'd at least get something that didn't completely flop on you.
