Just read that most hobby paints have a shelf life of 2 years even if they look fine
I was browsing a paint chemistry forum last night and saw this stat that hobby acrylics and enamels start breaking down after 24 months on the shelf, even if they haven't been opened. That explains why my last batch of model tank paint came out all clumpy and weird even though it looked smooth in the bottle. Anyone else check their paint dates and find old stuff that ruined a project?

Oh man, that totally stinks! I had the same thing happen with a bottle of olive drab I'd been hoarding for a special diorama. It looked perfect but turned into this weird, stringy mess that wouldn't lay flat no matter how much I stirred it. Now I've got a whole box of paints I'm scared to trust.

Try shaking the bottle with a small ball bearing inside to break up the stringy bits. @rosel83
