Warning: That $15 plumbing snake from the hardware store snapped in my drain pipe

I was trying to clear a clog in my kitchen sink last Saturday and the cheap snake got stuck. The cable broke off inside the pipe and I had to call a plumber to fish it out. He charged me $180 to remove the broken snake and clear the drain properly. Has anyone else had a budget tool backfire this badly?

...and that's exactly why I've learned the hard way that "buy once, cry once" is real, even for stupid stuff like drain snakes. My buddy tried to save 20 bucks on a toilet auger and ended up punching a hole in his PVC pipe. It's like when you buy the cheap set of screwdrivers and they strip the screw head instead of turning it. Or that time I got a "deal" on a pressure washer that died after three uses. The universe always seems to collect that 180 bucks one way or another, might as well pay it upfront for something that actually works.

Must be nice having a plumber who only charges $180, learned that lesson the hard way myself with a broken key in a lock once.
