Pro tip: I used wood filler versus epoxy putty on a rotted window sill and the filler crumbled in 2 months.
The epoxy cost $25 more but it's rock solid now. Anyone have a better fix for old pine window frames?

Hold on, "turned to dust by summer" sounds like user error to me. If you don't seal the wood filler completely with a good primer and paint, of course it's going to fail. That stuff is not meant to be left bare. The epoxy is overkill for a simple sill and a huge pain to sand smooth. A proper paint job over the right filler lasts for years.

Ugh, my buddy tried that cheap filler on his porch step. Same thing, just turned to dust by summer. He ended up replacing the whole board.
