Switched from flattening layers to keeping them all separate and it changed my workflow

Honestly, I used to flatten everything down in Procreate after I finished a section. I thought it kept the file sizes small and made things simpler. But last month I tried keeping every layer separate for a character piece with 30 layers. Now I can go back and tweak shadows or move a whole arm without redrawing anything. Has anyone else found a simple settings change that saved them tons of time?

So you spent a month ironing your socks before you realized they go in the drawer the same way, @betty_park62? Layers are my backup plan now because I've ruined too many finished pieces by wanting to move one thing.

Isn't it funny how we make things harder for ourselves just because that's how we've always done it? I noticed the same thing when I stopped folding my laundry perfectly and just started hanging everything - saved me an hour each week for something that didn't matter in the first place. Sometimes the simple shift in how we approach a task can make the biggest difference in time and frustration.
