Are you seriously saying you'd rather have everyone just lie to you and let you keep using bad techniques? Getting called out like that might sting but it's way better than wasting years making art that looks half-baked.

Wait, is it really that black and white though? I mean, I get where you're coming from, but in my experience, getting told your whole approach is wrong can make someone shut down completely. A friend of mine spent two years learning to draw hands one specific way, and when someone told her it was all bad, she just stopped drawing for six months. That wasted way more time than if they'd just said "hey, maybe try a different angle for the thumb." Your mileage may vary, but I've seen people bounce back way better from a small tip than from a full tear down.
