Heard a guy at the coffee shop in Royal Oak say he's moving his whole team to remote work
Honestly, I was grabbing a coffee before school yesterday and overheard a guy at the next table on a call. He was telling someone he's closing their office in Southfield and moving his whole team of 12 to remote work for good. He said the rent was over $4,000 a month and it just wasn't worth it anymore. Tbh, it made me think about all those office buildings around here and what happens to them if more small businesses do this. I drive by them every day and you already see more 'for lease' signs than a couple years ago. It's a big change for how our local business areas might look. Has anyone else seen this kind of shift with companies they know around the metro area?

Ngl, I see it all the time now. My buddy's company in Troy just went fully remote last month and their old office is sitting empty. You drive down Woodward and it feels like every third building has a sign up.

That's a huge rent bill to be paying for an empty room. What do you think happens to all that office space if this keeps up? Do they just knock the buildings down or try to turn them into something else?
