Got burned buying a rundown diner in Warren without checking the grease trap first

I took over a place on Van Dyke last spring that looked like a steal at $45,000. First week I opened the kitchen and found the grease trap hadn't been cleaned in 2 years, which cost me $3,200 to fix plus a health department visit. Anybody else learn the hard way about hidden costs in restaurant buyouts?

Wait, $3,200 for a grease trap? That's insane. I would have lost my mind if I walked into that mess after thinking I got a deal.

Is three grand really that bad for a commercial grease trap though? @cole_walker26 you gotta think about what a new one costs installed plus the permit fees. I know it stings but that thing is built to last and if it fails it's a health code nightmare. Most people just see the price tag without understanding what goes into it.
