Appreciation post: I finally tried that new food truck park in Corktown
I always thought it was just a fad, but seeing the crowd of construction crews and office workers mixing there at lunch changed my mind about its real business impact. Has anyone else noticed a spot like this boosting foot traffic for nearby shops?

Totally get that. A taco stand opened near my old apartment and the corner store started selling way more drinks and snacks to people waiting in line.

Oh for sure, it's like a rising tide lifts all boats! I've seen a single good coffee cart totally wake up a sleepy block of stores. These little hubs make the whole area feel like a destination.

Actually used to think the opposite, that a new spot would just steal customers from existing places. But seeing it happen in my own neighborhood changed my mind. A little bakery set up on a dead block near me and within six months there was a bike repair shop and a juice place around it. Now that whole stretch has people walking around at all hours instead of being deserted. Its like each new business brings more reasons for people to come hang out, and everyone ends up with more customers than they would have alone.
