A customer told me my quote formatting was hurting their business
Some guy from a hardware supply place in Dearborn called me out last month. He said my quotes were a mess, all mixed up with no clear line items for loading versus transport fees. I used to just lump everything together. Now I break out every single charge separate, and I've gotten way fewer folks haggling or asking for breakdowns. Has anyone else had to totally redo how they present numbers because of one person's feedback?

oh man, one guy basically rewrites your whole quoting system and now you're a formatting pro... kinda funny how one complaint can shake your whole world up like that, right? i've had it happen too where someone nitpicked my invoices and i was like "ugh fine, i'll do it your way" and now i can't even look at my old messy quotes without cringing. it's like that customer did you a favor whether you wanted it or not... though i bet it stung when they said it was "hurting their business," like dude, it's just some numbers on a page. but hey, if it stops the haggling then maybe they were onto something...

Yeah the "hurting their business" part would have rubbed me the wrong way too. But honestly looking back at my old stuff after someone forced me to clean it up, I get it. It's like having bad handwriting your whole life and then someone makes you use a computer. You resent it but now you can actually read what you wrote.
