Switched from plastic to metal water bottles and the difference surprised me in 2 weeks

I swapped out my old plastic bottles for a stainless steel one I got at a camping store, and after about 2 weeks I noticed my water just tasted cleaner, no more weird plastic aftertaste. Has anyone else noticed a big flavor difference with metal bottles or am I imagining things?

Honestly, are we really this fussy about water bottles? I mean, you're probably just tasting a difference because the metal one is clean and the plastic one was scratched up from months of use. People act like a little plastic taste is going to ruin their whole day, but it's just water.

Hang on, I gotta push back on that. That "little plastic taste" is not just a taste, it's chemicals leaching into your water. I've left a plastic bottle in a hot car for a few hours and that water was basically undrinkable to me, like I could literally taste the melted plastic factory it came from. Plus scratched plastic bottles are a breeding ground for bacteria, that's way worse than a little taste. So yeah, if someone wants to spend extra on metal to avoid that, I get it completely.
