I always figured the money would solve everything until a friend burned out on nights. Hearing about missing a graduation and all those summer barbecues made it real. You start to realize time with people you care about has its own kind of currency. The extra pay just doesn't buy those moments back.

Grabbed a night shift once for the extra pay. Lasted four months before I gave up. Missed my niece's graduation and basically all summer parties. Found myself nodding off at noon and living on coffee. The cash was great but I felt disconnected from everyone. Really weigh those daytime events against the money.
