Heard a furniture guy say 'buy cheap end tables, invest in your sofa'

Stuck at my brother's apartment in Denver last week. His couch was this flimsy IKEA thing that sagged after a year. But his coffee table was a $40 Facebook find. Made me rethink where I drop my cash. Anyone else put money in the wrong furniture piece?

Idk, I feel like it kind of depends on how much you actually use the end tables. Maybe it's not that deep of a rule.
