That talk with my mechanic about engine timers hit different
He said most people kill their car by letting it idle 20 minutes every morning, and now I feel dumb for doing that for years just to warm up the cab. Anyone else here roast their engine waiting for the heat to kick in?

You're questioning if idling hurts the engine, and I kind of wonder the same thing. I've heard people say it wears things out faster because there's no oil pressure when the engine's sitting there running, but is it really that catastrophic? I remember leaving my truck idling for 20-30 minutes in the driveway during a really cold winter and nothing bad happened to it. Maybe it's more of a modern car thing with all the computer sensors and stuff on newer models.
