That moment I realized I was using grocery store bags wrong for 5 years

I was at the checkout last Tuesday and the cashier looked at me weird when I put a single bag of chips in its own plastic bag. She said "ma'am you can just put that loose in the cart." It hit me that every time I came home with 15 bags holding one item each, I was making extra work for myself and the environment. Now I just toss everything loose in the cart and bag it all at once at the car. Has anyone else had a random stranger point out a dumb habit you never questioned?

Three different grocery stores near me just started doing curbside pickup and I swear every single employee looks relieved not having to deal with people wandering around the parking lot. Honestly if they started bagging at the car too that would actually save me time wrestling my reusable bags between the cart and my backseat.
