That automatic soap dispenser at work that died on day 3

We got these touchless soap dispensers in the shop bathroom last Monday, and by Thursday the one by the sink just quit. No lights, no beep, nothing. I fiddled with it for ten minutes trying to get it to work, even swapped in fresh batteries from the drawer. Turns out the pump motor just gave up, so now I'm back to using the manual pump bottle I kept under the counter. Anyone else have a 'new and improved' gadget break faster than the old one?

Yep, I feel this one deep in my bones. We put those fancy touchless dispensers in our crew break room last year and three out of four were dead within a month. The little circuit boards inside them are just plain cheap no matter what brand you buy. I ended up going back to the old manual pump bottle too and honestly it's way more reliable. Saves me the headache of trying to explain to the guys why the soap dispenser is on the fritz again.

You're absolutely right about the circuit boards being the weak point. It's like they design these things to fail right after the warranty runs out so you have to buy another one. Have you ever tried taking one apart to fix it or is it just not worth the time?
