I miss the days when I could fix my own phone battery in 5 minutes
Back in 2015 I had a Galaxy S5 and the battery popped right out the back. If it died at 3pm I just swapped in a spare I kept in my bag and kept going. Now I got this phone where everything is glued together and sealed up. Last week my battery hit 2% at the airport and I couldn't do anything about it but sit by an outlet for 45 minutes. Why did manufacturers decide to take away something that simple? Anyone else remember when phones actually let you swap a battery without a heat gun and a prayer?

Hold up wait wait wait. You had a SPARE battery in your bag? No way. That is actually wild. I never thought to do that. I mean I remember my old phone had a removable back but I just thought the whole point was "oh it breaks, you can fix it" not like carrying a whole extra power source in your pocket. That sounds so simple I feel like an idiot for never doing it. Nowadays we all glued to a wall outlet like plants needing sunlight. Manufacturers got us trapped.

Oh man, you're close but I gotta push back a little. The spare battery thing was more of a "nice to have" than a daily carry for most of us. I had one but I mostly kept it at home or in my car for emergencies, not in my bag every single day. And yeah, you could swap them out easily, but the phone would lose power completely during the swap which meant losing whatever you were doing. So it wasn't as smooth as just plugging in a power bank. Also, those spare batteries could be a pain if they swelled up or got hot in your pocket.

@joseph529 Right? It seems so obvious now but nobody did it back then. I feel your pain on being trapped by outlets, it's crazy how much freedom we gave up for a slightly thinner phone.
