Vent: Called my internet provider to downgrade my plan, ended up paying $15 more a month
Was paying $65 for 200Mbps. Called to switch to their $45 for 100Mbps plan. The rep said I needed a new modem for that plan, $10 monthly rental fee. Then a $20 activation fee. Then they tacked on some 'protection plan' without asking. By the end of the call my bill was $80. I hung up, called back, and canceled everything. Went with a different company entirely. Has anyone had a rep sneak in extra services mid-conversation?

Honestly gotta give the rep credit for creativity, turning a downgrade into an upgrade without even breaking a sweat. Ngl that's almost impressive if it wasn't so scummy.

Yeah I had a guy do the same thing to me last month, told me a "refreshed" model was actually just a factory reset.

Wait don't you think that's actually worse though? I mean if someone tells you it's "refreshed" and hands you a factory reset, at least you can still check if they actually did anything to it hardware wise. But if they straight up lie about the specs like that other guy, you'd never know until something goes wrong down the line. Idk maybe it's just me but I'd rather deal with the dishonest refurb than the one who's pretending floor model parts are brand new. At least with the factory reset thing you can probably get your money back from the store, but once you use that "new" part for a while you're stuck with it.
