That one cashier's advice about timing my grocery run finally clicked
Old lady at the register in H-E-B told me to come at 7 AM on a Tuesday, said it'd be empty and I'd save 15 bucks a week on markdowns. Actually worked, now I'm not fighting crowds or paying full price for meat. Anyone else get game changing tips from random checkout workers?

Walked in at 7 AM on a Wednesday once and the cashier told me "the early bird gets the markdown chicken." She was right, I snagged a whole rotisserie bird for like three bucks. Felt like I was committing a crime walking out of there with that price tag, but no regrets.

Whoa hold up, I gotta disagree a little bit here. I tried that early Tuesday morning trick for a few weeks and sure, the meat markdowns were real, but I was so tired by 10am I could barely focus at work. Plus half the time the "marked down" chicken was already sitting there since Sunday and looked a little sketchy. I'd rather pay full price and go at a normal time when they actually rotate the fresh stock in, not just clear out the old stuff.
