Spent $75 on a phone repair that made things worse

I mean, my screen had a small crack so I took it to a local spot in Austin. They said it would be $75 and take an hour. Three hours later, they gave it back and the touchscreen didn't work at all. I went back and they argued it was like that when I brought it in, which is a total lie. So now I'm out the money and my phone is basically a brick. Has anyone else had a repair shop completely ruin their device and then refuse to own up to it?

That "out the money and my phone is a brick" situation is the worst feeling.

Take it to small claims court like @dylan_rodriguez hinted, because that's straight-up theft.

My buddy got a refurbished laptop that died after a week. The seller ghosted him, so he filed in small claims. Took an afternoon off work and everything. The judge basically told the seller to cut a check right there. Sometimes you just have to make it official.
