Pro tip: calling a real person is faster than pressing 0 for an operator now

I remember back in the 90s I'd just dial the store direct and get a human in 2 rings. Last week I spent 18 minutes trapped in an automated menu trying to get a refund for a broken blender. Has anyone else noticed how companies hide their human contact info on purpose now?

Yeah that "pressing 0" trick barely works anymore, most systems just dump you back in the queue or play a recording now. It feels like the whole world is designed to wear you down on purpose, not just phone menus. Even ordering food at a counter, you scan a QR code and fill out a form instead of just telling someone what you want. Everything's a wall you gotta figure out how to climb just to talk to another human.

Man that "designed to wear you down on purpose" line hits home. I spent an hour and a half last week trying to cancel a service I never even signed up for, just got bounced between automated menus and hold music that sounded like a dying fax machine. You're right about the QR code thing too - went to grab lunch yesterday and the counter had a sign saying "please order through our app for faster service" but the app wouldn't even load. Makes you wonder why they bothered having a counter at all if they don't want to talk to you. Did you ever find a way around those phone systems or did you just give up like I usually do?
