Just found out my internet provider was charging me for speed I never got
I was going through my old bills last night and noticed I'd been paying for 200 Mbps for over a year. Ran a speed test on a whim and was only getting like 40 Mbps. Called them up and they tried to blame it on my router but I had their modem. They finally admitted there was an 'issue on their end' after 3 days of back and forth. Anyone else check their actual speeds after seeing a weird charge?

Ran a speed test on a whim" is exactly how my buddy found out he'd been paying for fiber speeds but getting DSL level crap. Took him two months of calls to get a refund.

Oscarmurphy probably felt like he was paying for a Ferrari and getting a pogo stick. My cousin had the same issue with Comcast, they kept saying "speeds up to 100 Mbps" and he was getting 12. The refund process was such a nightmare they made him jump through hoops for three months before finally giving him a credit. Did they at least give you a decent runaround or just the standard "we'll look into it" spiel?

This happens way too often and it’s part of a bigger pattern where companies just bank on people never checking. @oscarmurphy’s buddy is lucky he only lost two months, my neighbor spent a whole year with Spectrum before he realized he was getting half the speed he paid for. They count on you being busy or just not noticing, and then when you call, it’s always your router or your wiring or the time of day. It’s like paying for a gym membership but only getting to use the water fountain.
