I used to think a phone call could fix anything until my fridge saga with a big box store

This happened at the appliance center in Springfield last month. I bought a new fridge that arrived with a huge dent in the door. I called the 800 number, and after 45 minutes on hold, the agent said a replacement would take 8 weeks. When I asked for a manager, she put me on hold and the call dropped. I drove back to the store, and the manager there just shrugged and repeated the 8-week timeline. Has anyone else had to basically show up in person to get any real help from a company's phone support?

My friend had the exact same thing happen with her new washer. The delivery guys left it with a cracked lid and the phone line was useless, just endless holds and transfers. She finally got mad and went down to the store with all her paperwork. Stood there until they actually looked at her. It's crazy how showing up in person is the only thing that works sometimes. I mean, you'd think a company that big could handle a simple swap over the phone.

Ugh, that's so frustrating. The call dropping after asking for a manager is the worst part, feels totally intentional. Having to drive back and get the same shrug is just adding insult to injury. Solidarity, that whole process sounds exhausting.
