Hit the 45-minute hold record with a phone company today
I called to fix a billing error and sat on hold for 45 minutes before they hung up on me. Has anyone else had that happen with a utility provider?

Man that's brutal. 45 minutes is insane for any company to waste your time like that. It's kinda funny how these big companies make you jump through hoops for their mistakes, right? They mess up your bill but you're the one who has to sit there listening to elevator music for nearly an hour. I've noticed this pattern where everything's automated and you can't just talk to a real person anymore. You press buttons for 10 minutes and still end up talking to someone who can't help you. They treat our time like it's worthless but their time is gold.

Totally agree @jamiew83, it's just maddening isn't it... I had the same thing with my internet provider last month. They overcharged me by like 30 quid and I spent 50 minutes on hold only to get cut off when I finally got through. Rang back and started the whole process again... then the person who answered couldn't even see the billing error. They just read me a script about paying on time. Our time is definitely seen as disposable to them.
