Hit 47 calls to my internet provider before they actually fixed my connection

That's the number I landed on after 8 weeks of spotty service. Every time I called, they ran the same script - reboot your router, check for outages in your area, send a technician who never showed up. The 47th call was the one where I finally asked for a supervisor and got someone who admitted the line to my house was damaged. Why does it take almost 50 phone calls to get someone to actually look at the problem instead of reading off a checklist? Has anyone else hit a crazy number like that before getting real help?

47 calls is like a full time job and I'd probably quit after the first voicemail.
