Back when I managed a hardware store in the 90s we actually picked up the phone by the THIRD ring
Now I call three different places about a plumbing part and all I get is voicemail trees that loop back to the same menu has anyone else noticed nobody answers calls anymore?

Read an article that said most automated systems eventually route to a human if you stay on the line long enough... but hitting 0 or pound is way faster.
