Tried an Italian threading technique on a frizz-prone client yesterday

I used a smaller section and twisted it 3 times before pulling through, and her flyaways literally vanished after the finish cut. Has anyone else messed around with different twist counts for stubborn hair types?

Yeah, I've gone up to 5 twists on coarse Asian hair and it smoothed out way better than the standard 2. Try starting with a 4 twist on the crown next time and see if it holds.

More twists just create more bulk and can make the hair feel stiff instead of smooth.

Thing is twist count matters WAY less than starting tension and where you place the section. People obsess over the number but ignore that a 3 twist on a poorly defined section will look worse than a 5 twist on a cleanly carved out piece. Also the direction your hair naturally grows at the crown is a real wildcard. If you don't account for that cowlick swirl even smooth hair will buckle after a few days.
