Tested two bonding methods on this bleach damaged hair yesterday
Had a client come in with hair that was basically cotton candy from too much home bleach. I tried Olaplex on one side and a cheap bonding treatment on the other. The Olaplex side felt noticeably stronger and looked shinier after just one round. Has anyone else seen a big difference between brand name and off brand bond repair?

And honestly the cheap stuff probably just coats the hair with silicone to fake that smooth feeling, it doesn't actually rebuild any of the broken disulfide bonds like Olaplex does. That's why the Olaplex side felt stronger instead of just slippery.

Oh man, that explains so much about why my hair used to feel like I was petting a freshly waxed car after using the cheap stuff - all that fake smoothness and zero actual help! My poor split ends are probably still mad at me from those years.

Honestly, is that bond rebuilding actually proven or just good marketing?
