Sheet mask or hair mask first - I picked wrong and paid for it
So last Saturday I had a rare free evening and decided to treat myself. I had a fancy clay sheet mask and a deep conditioning hair mask sitting in my bathroom. I figured doing the hair mask first made sense since I could wrap my hair up and relax. Well 45 minutes later I peeled off the sheet mask and realized the clay had dried all crusty around my hairline from the hair mask oils. Took me 20 extra minutes in the sink to scrub it all off my skin. Has anyone else accidentally mixed up their mask order and ended up with a mess?

I read somewhere that hair masks should always come first if you're using a clay sheet mask because the oils in the hair mask can mess with how the clay adheres to your skin. The clay dries uneven and gets all flaky and stuck to your hairline like you just discovered. I actually did the opposite mistake once where I did the sheet mask first and then the hair mask dripped all down my face and ruined the whole thing. Learned that tip from a beauty vlog where they explained the pH levels of hair products don't mix well with clay masks. Total pain to clean up either way, took me like 15 minutes with a gentle cleanser to get all the residue off my forehead. Have you tried using a micellar water on a cotton pad to wipe around your hairline before you wash your face?

Honestly, I heard the same thing from a random beauty thread, clay masks are too picky with pH.
