Question about cutting wet hair with thinning shears

A client with thick hair in Chicago wanted less bulk but hated dry cuts. I tried thinning her wet hair with my 30-tooth shears, just a few passes. The result was way smoother and she booked again. Anyone else do this or think it's a bad idea?

Always heard you should never thin wet hair, but your result proves that wrong. A smooth finish on thick hair is the whole goal, right? Maybe the old rule needs a second look sometimes.

Guess the old hair rules are like my ex's promises, made to be broken.

Totally get where you're coming from. It sounds like you found a solid method that worked for that client and that's what really matters in the end. I know how it feels when something goes against the usual advice but just clicks in practice. I had a similar thing with a different technique once, and it was like a light bulb went off. Sometimes you just have to trust your hands over the old rules, you know?
