Pro tip: A client in Phoenix had a major toner reaction during a color correction

I was working on a client who wanted to go from dark box dye to a cool blonde, and we were in the middle of a long session. Right after applying the toner, her scalp got really red and started to feel hot. I immediately rinsed everything out with cool water and applied a calming serum I keep in my kit for emergencies. It settled down after about twenty minutes, but we had to reschedule the rest of the service. Has anyone else had a client react to a specific brand of demi-permanent color?

My friend's client broke out in hives from a specific brand's blue-based demi. They switched to a different line with a gentler formula and the client was totally fine. Some brands just have ingredients that don't agree with everyone.

Honestly, I've seen reactions happen across all kinds of brands. It's more about the client's skin that day than the specific product line.

My friend's skin once threw a fit over a "gentle" oatmeal cleanser. Guess it wanted the fancy stuff that day, lmao.
