My color formula disaster last Thursday
Honestly, I was mixing a level 7 ash for a regular client and my scale just died mid-measure. It was a cheap digital one I got online for maybe $25. I had to eyeball the rest of the developer and the toner, which I never do. The result was way too warm, almost brassy. I had to do a corrective toner right there in the bowl to fix it, which added another 40 minutes to her appointment. Ngl, I'm ordering a proper professional scale today. Has anyone had a good experience with a specific brand that lasts?

What kind of cursed scale just quits in the middle of mixing ash? That's like the universe demanding a brassy outcome. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap scale and my red formula went full-on burgundy wine, not the copper I was going for. I swear those budget scales are built to fail right at the worst possible second. I switched to a MyWeigh iBalance years ago and it's a tank, never lets me down. You're smart to ditch the junk one before it ruins another formula.

Man, that line about the universe demanding a brassy outcome is too real. I used to think a scale was just a scale, you know? Like, how different could they be. Then I had a cheap one drift on me while mixing a batch of stain for a fence, and the color match was so off the client made me redo the whole section. Now I get that a good scale is just basic, non-negotiable equipment. It saves you way more time and money than it costs.
