I saw a stylist do a full bleach service without a consultation first

I was at the Midwest Beauty Show in Chicago last year, watching a demo. The stylist grabbed a client from the crowd and started mixing bleach without asking about her hair history. She just said 'trust me, I know what I'm doing.' The model's hair was already colored, and you could see the ends start to gummy up after about 15 minutes. It made me stop doing any chemical service without a full 10 minute talk first, no matter how busy I am. Has anyone else had to fix a color job because the last person skipped the consult?

Ugh, that's so bad. @vera668 is totally right about that broken band, it's a classic sign. I saw a girl at my old salon who had her ends melt off because someone bleached over a direct dye without asking. It looked like wet spaghetti. That "trust me" stuff is just ego talking. A five minute chat could have saved her a year of grow out. It's basic respect for the hair.

That "trust me" line is a huge red flag. I had a client come in with a band of broken hair right at her crown because her last stylist didn't ask about her at home box color. It took months of careful treatments to get it feeling okay again. Skipping the talk just shows you care more about speed than the hair on someone's head. It's the most important step, period.

Oh man, the "trust me" line gives me flashbacks to when I tried to cut my own bangs during lockdown. Let's just say I had to wear a lot of hats for a while. It really does show a lack of care when a pro won't even take five minutes to ask what you've done to your hair. What's the worst home color disaster you've had to fix?
