I hit 500 hair color formulas saved in my book this morning

It really hit me how much work that is, especially since I started with just a few notes on a napkin. Has anyone else found a good way to organize their custom mixes besides a physical book?

My buddy had a similar thing happen with his wood stain recipes. He filled a whole binder and then spilled coffee on it. He switched to a simple spreadsheet on his computer, just columns for the mix and the results. He can search it now, and he backs it up online so a spill can't wreck it. It took him a weekend to type everything out but he says it was worth it.

My uncle did the same with his barbecue sauce notes. It feels like we're all slowly moving our important stuff from paper to something we can't spill on.

Isn't it funny how once you start digitizing one thing, you basically want to digitize everything? My whole life is slowly turning into a bunch of searchable spreadsheets and cloud folders. I did the same thing with my fishing log after it got rained on last summer (a total mess). @jakem98 is right, it does feel like a bigger trend, not just for recipes but for all those little life logs we keep. Now I just have to convince my dad to move his car maintenance notes off the greasy napkins in his glovebox.
