Had a client bring in a picture of a 'mermaid' cut from a fantasy art book... the hair was literally glowing blue and floating underwater.
This was at my old salon in Daytona Beach. She was dead serious, wanted the exact shade and the 'water flow' texture. I had to gently explain that Photoshop and magic were involved... we settled on some teal balayage and a wet-look product. Now I keep a little folder of 'physically impossible hair' pics on my phone to manage expectations right from the consult. What's the most unrealistic request you've ever gotten?

Ever get someone who wanted hair that defies the laws of physics? That folder is a genius idea, saves so much time. My cousin showed me a picture of anime hair once, wanted it to defy gravity without product. Had to explain that real hair doesn't work like cartoons. Some people just believe what they see on a screen way too much.

My old boss in Tampa had a whole binder of "movie magic" hair for this exact reason. We called it the reality check book. Showing them a side by side of the photoshop version next to what's actually possible with bleach and dye shuts down the crazy talk fast. You HAVE to be super clear about what hair can and cannot do, or they leave mad. That wet look product was a good save, it gives the vibe without the impossible physics.
